The performance of microfiltration membrane of PP folding filter element needs to be measured.
The measurement methods are mainly from four aspects, namely membrane defect, membrane thickness, membrane apparent density and porosity.
1. Measurement of membrane defects.
Membrane defect refers to the existence of holes in the surface or deep layer of the membrane, which has a direct impact on the performance of the membrane. Therefore, the defective membrane should be removed before use.
Generally, the defective film can be inspected by visual inspection or microscope, and it can also be detected by bubbling by immersing it in water (or non solvent film).
2. Measurement of film thickness.
Generally, it can be measured with spiral micrometer or thickness gauge, and it can also be visually inspected under microscope or electron microscope.
3. The apparent density of the membrane was measured.
Generally, the weight of the membrane is weighed first, and then the volume is calculated according to the measured membrane thickness and inner and outer diameter data. The ratio of the two is considered as the apparent density of the membrane.
4. Determination of porosity.
