High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter or High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance Filter, usually called HEPA Filter. It refers to a filter that is manufactured, tested, certified, and labeled in accordance with current HEPA filter standards. There are several sub-classes within the HEPA classification. The minimum HEPA category requires the filter to capture 99.97% of the 0.3-micron (0.000012-inch) particles in the air passing through the filter.
HEPA Filters meet the highest standards for air filtration, where precise control of air quality is paramount. These applications might include healthcare procedure rooms, food production, pharmaceutical production, and specialty manufacturing.
Performance above H16 is governed by the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) and Ultra Low Penetration Air (ULPA) standards. HEPA filters must meet a minimum efficiency of 99.97% on 0.3 micrometer particles. ULPA filters must meet the even more rigorous efficiency of 99.999% on 0.3 micrometer (DOP) particles.
Please note that the use of High Efficiency, HEPA, and ULPA filters requires specialized equipment rated for this high level of air filtration.
