Installation steps of hydraulic oil filter element

Apr 27, 2021

Since the filter is directly connected to the main hydraulic circuit, it is a high-pressure equipment. And the filter element is easy to pollute the equipment, after being polluted, it cannot be cleaned and cannot be used again. Therefore, the replacement of the hydraulic oil filter element should be carried out in strict accordance with the following steps to prevent danger and damage to the equipment.

1. Disconnect the switch valve of the equipment and release the pressure. If the filter housing is disassembled without first releasing the pressure, the residue in the filter will leak due to jetting due to high pressure, which may cause injury to equipment and people; overheated hydraulic fluid can cause fire or burns.

2. Hold the rotating handle on the top of the filter and pull out the unscrewed filter head and the filter element together.

3. Put the filter head and the filter element of the filter on the pre-prepared plastic cloth (make sure the plastic cloth is clean). Gently shake left and right to remove the filter element from the filter head, and check whether there are visible contaminants on the surface of the filter element (if there are visible contaminants, a sample of impurities must be taken for inspection to determine the source of the pollution).

4. Check whether the filter element housing and filter element head are damaged. Damaged components must be replaced. And properly clean the filter housing and filter head.

5. Ensure that the O-ring seal on the filter housing is intact and installed correctly. And use clean hydraulic oil to clean properly.

6. Put the new filter element into the filter element housing so that the center hole of the new filter element is aligned with the center axis of the filter element housing.

7. Fill a small amount of clean hydraulic oil on the O-ring and thread of the filter element head. Screw the filter element head into the filter element housing and reinstall it. Check the clogging switch on the top of the filter head and reset it.

8. Open the valve to pressurize the hydraulic system and test whether the filter leaks. If there is a leak, check the installation process for errors, and replace the malfunctioning equipment.
