How Does The Fuel Filter Work?

Jul 20, 2019

In order to ensure that the diesel engine works uninterruptedly, the fuel coming out of the fuel tank must be carefully cleaned of impurities. If the fuel filter is poor, the precision parts in the fuel injection pump and injector will wear out or get stuck quickly. The wear of the precision parts will cause uneven oil supply to each cylinder, increased fuel consumption and reduced power.

Two filters are typically installed in diesel engines. The first is a strainer that is installed before the transfer pump to filter out large impurities. The second is a fine filter that filters out tiny impurities that are installed before the fuel injection pump.

The fuel filter is connected in series between the fuel pump and the inlet of the throttle body. The function of the fuel filter is to remove solid impurities such as iron oxide and dust contained in the fuel to prevent the fuel system from being clogged (especially the injector). Reduce mechanical wear, ensure stable engine operation and improve reliability. The structure of the oil burner consists of an aluminum shell and a bracket with stainless steel inside. The bracket is equipped with high-efficiency filter paper sheets, and the filter paper sheets are formed in a chrysanthemum shape to increase the flow area. The EFI filter cannot be used with a carburetor filter. Since the EFI filter is often subjected to a fuel pressure of 200-300 KPA, the filter's compressive strength is generally required to be above 500 KPA, and the carburetor filter does not have to achieve such a high pressure.
